Dear Valued Client,
Aloni Goh Wealth Strategy Notes:
Equity markets ended the first half of the year on a strong note as buying interest broadened out from the big tech rally last month. Inflation cooled off and it was the main catalyst that fueled the rally. We suspect window dressing – in this case, fund managers buying and/or selling stocks at or near the end of reporting periods to show they have favourable positions in the market – was also a factor.
We maintain our view that we are in a long-term bull market with years to go before the next long-term bear starts. In the short term, we expect some volatility but consider it healthy consolidation before a more sustainable intermediate uptrend can take hold, potentially taking equity indices to new all-time highs some time in 2024.

As we head into the summer months, we wish all of you a nice, relaxing break with your friends and family. The sun is out, central banks are slowing their rate hikes and both the Canadian and U.S. economies have proven more resilient than expected.
As many of you know, we hosted an online seminar in the spring – Life After Work, featuring Tammy Vigue, Retirement Coach. Tammy offers valuable information regarding the non-financial aspects of planning for retirement as a complement to our discretionary investment portfolio services.
Tammy’s mission is to expand the way we think about and plan for retirement. With over twenty years of experience in the financial industry, Tammy has gained a unique perspective on retirement planning. She believes that traditional approaches to retirement planning are incomplete and that creating a vision for a fulfilling life after work is just as important as financial security.
Retirement is more than just about the money – to have a successful retirement, you will need to find ways to replace the benefits you get from your work, beyond the income.
Tammy’s presentation was well-attended and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We thank those who attended and participated in the seminar, and we hope all of you can attend our next event.
Tammy has been kind enough to provide a list of books that may be helpful to supplement her presentation. They are available on Amazon or at your local bookstores.
